The Sayings of Lao Tzu was published as part of the Wisdom of the East series of books , the edition has been translated from the chinese with an introduction by Lionel Giles M.A. The blue/grey boards are lightly grubby , worn and bumped on the corners, and the base of the spine is torn, and is also discoloured, there is a previous owners name in ink on the front endpaper with a date ' Jan 50 ' the spine hinge has been torn where the cover has been forced back between the front paste-down and endpaper, the text block is relatively clean. Book price includes 2nd class parcel post in UK only.

Very good. 'The Wisdom of the East' Series started in 1904, and grew out of a desire for a greater understanding of the history and philosophy of the East. In his preface, Weir states that the aim of his book is a produce a 'sound opinion' on 'what manner of man the poet Omar Khayyam was'. T. H. Weir was a was a lecturer in Arabic at Glasgow University.
