Cloth and glt nice and bright, some foxing and browing to contents, good thus; birthday dedication on ffep dated 27th November 1921 to 'Sweet Seventeen'. A collection of articles written by Jefferies towards the end of his short life, highlighting his deep understanding of and immersion in the natural world. Ruth Dollman was the daughter of the artist John Charles Dollman, and was born in 1890, making her only a teenager when she painted the rather lovely illustrations.

Publisher's olive green cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine and gilt vignette to the front board; good and strong with a little rubbing to edges, head/tail of spine lightly rubbed. Contents clean and tight, but with some spotting to the first few pages. pictorial endpapers are clean, no inscriptions. A good copy. Size: 8vo. Book.

Internally very good clean tight sound square, attractive prize bookplate, no inscription or further ownership marks of any kind, remarkably free from foxing or browning, well held in joints and hinges. Beautifully bound in bright gilt lettered and elaborately illustrated full blue calf leather, featuring bright gilt school coat of arms embossed to upper, with gilt scrolled Latin motto and framing. Great shelf presence with 5 raised ruled bands and 5 illustrated floral decorative compartments, all edges bright colour marbled, blind and bright inner gilt dentelles. A great edition for reader, scholar and collector alike.

Zustand: Very Good. Hardback. Very light shelf wear, first few pages lightly foxed, otherwise very good indeed in very good, slightly worn and darkened dust jacket with slight tear and tape residue at head of spine. Name to endpaper.
