Hardcover. Zustand: New. Women, Environment and Sustainable Development: Some Aspects on Indian Context is a thought-provoking book that delves into the intricate relationship between women, the environment, and sustainable development in India. It explores the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Indian women in their roles as primary caregivers, agricultural workers, and environmental stewards. Through insightful analysis and case studies, this book sheds light on the disproportionate impact of environmental degradation on women's lives, health, and livelihoods. It also highlights the invaluable contributions of women in preserving traditional ecological knowledge, promoting sustainable practices, and leading grassroots environmental movements. With a holistic approach, this book advocates for gender-inclusive policies and empowerment initiatives that empower women as agents of change in the pursuit of sustainable development. Whether you are a scholar, policymaker, or simply someone passionate about gender equality and environmental justice, this book offers a compelling Indian perspective on a globally relevant issue.

Erstausgabe
Soft cover. Zustand: New. 1st Edition. I am bit excited to write this prologue on a subtle subject which is socially relevant and at the same time controversial in nature because number of issues are associated with its application. I should also admit my little bit of hesitation in the first step as this is my first attempt to assimilate and arrange papers in a collection on an important subjects contributed by different Academicians, Researchers, Teachers, Policy Makers and Writers. This cannot be possible without the guidance of my mentor Prof. Jayanta Mete. We live in a free country and this freedom is a gift of democracy to us. Our constitution gives us the right to freedom and most importantly to exercise this freedom in an equitable manner. At the same time it is incumbent on the part of the state to ensure that equality prevails in all sections of the society. However in today's time one of the major roadblocks to this equality is the Reservation System. India being a developing nation is currently facing many challenges and the reservation system being one of them. The biggest question that lies in front of us is whether implementing this reservation system has really helped the downtrodden? The current scenario clearly depicts that the 'lower' castes are still discriminated in their daily lives. To uproot casteism it is important that we fight the reservation system which alone will lead us to development, competency, equality and unity.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Recent developments in stem cell biology have opened new directions in cell therapy. This book provides the state-of-the-art developments in using biomaterials as artificial niches for engineering stem cells, both for the purpose of better understanding their biology under 3D biomimetic conditions as well as for developing new strategies for efficient long term maintenance and directed differentiation of stem cells into various therapeutic lineages. Animal and human stem cells of both embryonic and adult origin are discussed with applications ranging from nerve regeneration, orthopedics, cardiovascular therapy, blood cell generation and cancer therapy. Both synthetic and natural biomaterials are reviewed with emphasis on how material-stem cell interactions direct specific signaling pathways and ultimately modulate the cell fate. This book is valuable for biomaterial scientists, tissue engineers, clinicians as well as stem cell biologists involved in basic research and applications of adult and embryonic stem cells.
