12mo, 18.5cm, 198,[1]p., in full smooth red calf, gilt spine and cover titles, marbled endpapers and edges, "Author's Signed Presentation Copy, Ottawa, 44", on War Time economy paper, quite toned but the paper is still quite flexible, a fine copy thus, rare not one listing located. (cmt). A lovely bound copy of Simone Routier's journal of her last few days in Paris in 1940, as the journalist and writer flee's the advancing German troops. Her journal captures her thoughts, as Paris is destroyed by war. The contents are literary describing the landmarks, restaurants, as she remembers them as she leaves.
