Cet ouvrage, qui s'inspire de la Légende du Graal telle que Wagner la présente dans son opéra, fait l'objet d'une merveilleuse édition réalisée intégralement par Willy Pogany (1882-1955). Cet artiste d'origine hongroise étudia à Budapest, Munich et Paris. Il travailla à Paris et Londres, illustrant des légendes et des mythes dans un style Art-Déco, avant de s'installer à New-York où il s'occupa notamment de mise en scène pour le cinéma. Parsifal est l'une des quatre oeuvres majeures de sa période londonnienne (avec The Rime of the Ancient Mariner de Coleridge (1910), Tannhauser (1911) et Lohengrin (1913) de Wagner). Il en compose les couvertures, toute l'illustration et les lettrines ainsi que la mise en page. La typographie du texte est extrêmement soignée avec des lettrines historiées, chaque page est illustrée, en couleurs ou dans des teintes brunes et or, le texte encadré par des dessins. On compte 8 planches en couleurs, et 16 planches avec des illustrations contrecollées en couleurs. Les illustrations réalisées à l'aquarelle rendent sensible l'atmosphère merveilleuse ou fantastique du texte.
