The first edition of William Morris and His Earthly Paradises, an intriguing analysis on the Arts and Crafts pioneer and his work, written by American literary scholar Roderick Marshall. In the publisher"s original brown cloth, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Contains a frontispiece, and contains all eleven plates of Morris"s artwork to the centre. Collated complete. Contains an ex libris bookplate of Mary Attenborough, dated 1982. Using both oriental and Jungian thought, Marshall analyses how the later works of William Morris moved towards self-reflection and discovery. Morris was a leading figure of the Arts and Crafts Movement heavily associated with the pre-Raphaelites. In the publisher"s original cloth, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with minimal marks and minor knocks to the head and tail of the spine.
