Entries are arranged alphabetically, and cover clergy, industrialists, civic leaders, artists, scientists, medical figures, and even Robin Hood as a legendary county figure. This copy comes with a separate supplement from 1925, containing notes on an additional 28 further names and errata. Robert Mellors (1835c.1930) was a local historian, vice-president of the Thoroton Society, alderman on the Nottinghamshire County Council, and author of In and About Nottinghamshire (1908).
