The first book contains essays, information and glossy reproductions, some full page and the second contains thumbnails with small color reproductions and descriptions as well as, at the rear, terms and conditions. Laid in are a six page printout of prices realized, folded once and stapled as well as two pages covering the offerings 160-963. Apparently the first and last page of this list is missing. An historic, if historically tragic, set of documents. Scarce.

The recipient is Frederick J. Cummings, Press Relations Manager of the Detroit Institute of Arts. Dated while the exhibit was at the Detroit Institute of Art from June 15 through August 28, 1977. The exhibit was the first major presentation of French?s sculptures. Daniel Chester French [1850?1931], one of the most prolific and acclaimed American sculptors of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, is best known for his design of the monumental statue of Abraham Lincoln (1920) in the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, DC. A nice association copy! Signed copies of this title are uncommon, much less with great associations. Signed.
