Contains an illustrated frontispiece by artist Sir Joshua Reynolds, and an illustrated plate of a Gordon highlander by Georges Scott. Collated complete.Written in his Doric dialect, Mitchell's poems celebrate the Gordon Highlanders, the line infantry regiment that served in the Battle of Mons and the First Battle of Ypres among many others during the First World War. 'Bydand', the highlanders' motto, means to be 'steadfast', and not to run away from danger, a theme that captures this charming anthology.
