Hardback. 8vo. 186 pages illustrations, portraits (complete, none missing) illus by Miss Caroline Manning and major general Baden Powell and others. Original publishers grey brown illustrated cloth some rubbing slight staining otherwise sound near very good with clean text. Interesting inscription on front end paper from 1974 where someone possibly an uncle offers one Graham £1000 and a Hamble star to stop smoking for 12 months. Very anti-smoking particularly juvenile smoking which he regards as the sting of death, the cigarette devil 'lunatics or cigarette fiends'. The lengthy index has stars against the names of cigarette victims. 10 pages of advert at rear. The publisher appears to have been mostly involved with temperance abstinence and health.
