Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. 24 pages. 180x120mm. Original printed wrappers. James Martin Gillis (1876-1957) was born of Irish parentage in Boston, Massachusetts. Ordained to the priesthood in New York in 1901, as a member of the Paulist Fathers he had a long career in radio broadcasting and journalism. On the subject of religious persecution in Russia he states in this pamphlet that: "Some ultra-liberal papers have been trying desperately to convince indignant Christians here and abroad that there is no religious persecution in Russia! The simplicity and naiveté of the New York 'Nation' (to mention the ablest of the pro-Bolshevist papers) would be edifying if one could believe it to be genuine." Slight wear but overall a very good copy of this rare publication, without any damage, library stamps, inscriptions or other markings. *** Lower than average weight - shipping charge will be reduced at processing stage of order. ***.…

Paperback. Zustand: Good No dust jacket as issued. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: No Dust Jacket As Issued. First Edition. "A collection of addresses by outstanding men and women, leaders in world-affairs, selected from many hundreds of speeches, protests, and denunciations of the atrocities and continuous, increased persecutions by the Nazi regime, from the day it assumed power down to the present time. Intended to 1) Demonstrate to the world that an effective substitute for the horrors of war has at last been found through the boycott, 2) Rescue Christianity and the cause of racial and religious freedom from the domination of the State which now threatens to engulf and destroy it, 3) Disprove and set to rest for all time the utter falsity and absurdity of the widespread, constantly repeated German propaganda that the world-wide boycott of German goods is a Jewish movement." - Preface. Content is dominated by nine contributions from Samuel Untermyer, president of the publisher. A year prior to publication, on nationwide CBS radio Untermyer had in effect said "âThe Jews of the world now declare a Holy War against Germany. We are now engaged in a sacred conflict against the Germans. And we are going to starve them into surrender. We are going to use a world-wide boycott against them. That will destroy them because they are dependent upon their export business.â - online reference. [4], 134, [4] stapled pages. "Compliments of Samuel Untermyer" plate affixed to front cover. Unmarked. Thin covers pulling from staples and almost loose. Chip from top of coverfold. Weiner Library Catalog Series No. 7 #1462. 8.2 x 5.3 inches.; 8vo.…
