He draws parallels between these observations about culture, and passages from the pages of the Bible. In the publisher's original roan backed, cloth covered boards. Rubbing to back strip head and tail, and joints. Front joint starting, with board firmly held. Head of rear joint starting, with board firmly held. Internally, title page detached to head and a touch tender, otherwise firmly bound. Spotting to plates, with further spotting and offsetting to pages facing them. Pages otherwise generally clean and bright, though a touch age toned. Good. book.

Thick square 12mo, pp xvi, 464, very well illustrated with many small woodcuts within the text, an engraved frontispiece and an extra engraved itile page, clean internally, original grey/brown cloth, decorated in gilt, slightly worn and scuffed, the spine a little frayed at head and tail. Unusual for the blue endpapers printed in gilt. Not dated, but Freeman gives 1842. RARE. [Draper, [1775 - 1843] was born into a Church of England family that was too poor to send him for training as an ordinand. He worked as a printer's apprentice at the Clarendon Press, Oxford. He became a Baptist, and when his apprenticeship was ended, he went to study at the Baptist Academy, Bristol, under John Ryland. Ordained in 1804, he became pastor of a Baptist Church at Chipping Norton, and then at Southampton. Draper was a much-published writer, generally on Biblical topics.].

The images depict the most important biblical scenes from Adam and Eve under the tree of knowledge to the Crucifixion of Jesus. Head of spine chipped. Spine cocked. Moderate rubbing along edges. Text in French. Binding in overall good-, interior in very good condition. About the author: Bourne Hall Draper (1775-1843) was educated for the Baptist Ministry at the Bristol Academy, under the Rev. Dr. J. Rylands. He was pastor of the Baptist Church at Chipping Norton 1804, and subsequently at Southampton, where he died in 1843.
