This volume contains two issues of separate publications: Vol II of the Christian Family Magazine for 1843 (vi, 302 pages) and the 1848-9 issue of The Ladies' Wreath (iv, 426, [2] pages). Red gilt-stamped leather over boards, marbled end papers, both periodicals are illustrated with engravings and hand-colored images of flowers. Covers worn at corners and along edges, front hinge cracked, pages still attached, pages toned and foxed, heavily in some places, some tears on pages, one page is ripped in half, but both halves are still attached, scattered staining. overall good and still highly readable. Burgundy cloth hardcover with gold impressing. All edges gilt. Cloth fading to brown, spine ends chipped, tear in front hinge, corners and edges worn. Ink stamp on front pastedown. Moderate foxing, occasional small mark, chip to bottom of p. 175. Various sections of this Christian annual bound together in one volume. Articles on such subjects as the "Civil and Religious Condition of the U.S.;" "Female Attainments;" "Immoral tendency of American Literature;" etc. Embellished with engravings of domestic scenes and colour engravings of flowers and other natural subjects.

Stories are mainly of a religious nature and demonstrate how to live an exemplary Christian life.
