Hardcover. Zustand: Poor. See photos for condition details: hardcover, volume 2 only of a two-volume set that is in very poor condition and is not even complete. The exterior binding, at least the spine and front board are still original, but the rear board is not - it has been cut down from a larger piece from a different book, so two sides have been reduced. This is how we received it, so this piece will stay with the book. The last page in the book is just page 157, this should be ending at page 164, and there are no rear end papers. The exterior, or what's left of it, is heavily worn and spotted, spine has quite a bit of chipping, and front board is cracked at the hinge. What's left of the interior pages are still securely attached although there is spotting and foxing throughout, which includes dampstains on some of the pages in the front. The original owners names are written in the front along with a early bookplate. The signature of Oliver Faulkner of the Faulkner family of Winchester (VA) is present on the front pastedown, along with a few blurry signature of A. H. Buchanan, with an 1817 date. Both are noted early families in the Virginia area. There is also some faded handwriting on the exterior of the chopped down rear board. Numerous pages throughout the book have small corner folds, some of which have been straightened out. We are hoping someone can use parts of this book to repair one of their copies, perhaps have roots in the Faulkner/Buchanan family history, or for reference purposes - even though the last 7-8 pages would have to be printed out from online sources, such as Google Books. As a reminder: this is volume 2 only of a two-volume set. The detached rear board is not from this book but has been chopped down perhaps to protect the last printed page which is heavily worn as well. The book itself is also not complete as it ends at page 157.

Exterior shows some light spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Top spine is a few small tears. The interior hinge at the front board is cracked but the remaining portion is in very good condition. Binding is tight in the rear hinge is good. The only reason this book did not grade as VG or better because of the front hinge crack. Pages are toned due to age but are clean. There is no handwriting or bookplates, no library markings, no signatures, nothing torn or loose.
