About the authors/editors from Wikipedia: Emmette Redford (September 23, 1904 - January 30, 1998) was an American political scientist. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. He received a Ph.D. in government from Harvard in 1933. Redford and Lyndon Johnson knew each other when they were children. During World War II, he worked for four years in the Office of Price Administration. He became a full professor at the University of Texas in 1939 and the Ashbel Smith Professor of Government in 1963. When the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs was founded, he became the Ashbel Smith Professor of Government and Public Affairs in 1970. Redford was a President of the American Political Science Association. He edited a 13-volume history of the Lyndon B. Johnson Administration. David Bicknell Truman (June 1, 1913 - August 28, 2003) was an American academic who served as the 14th president of Mount Holyoke College from 1969-1978. He is also known for his role as a Columbia University administrator during the Columbia University protests of 1968. Truman was an elected member of both the American Philosophical Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Andrew Hacker (born 1929) was an American political scientist and public intellectual. He was Professor Emeritus in the Department of Political Science at Queens College in New York. He did his graduate work at Oxford University, University of Michigan, and Princeton University, where he received his Ph.D. degree. Hacker taught at Cornell before taking his position at Queens. His most recent book, Higher Education? was written in collaboration with Claudia Dreifus, his wife, a New York Times science writer and Columbia University professor. Professor Hacker was a frequent contributor to the New York Review of Books. Alan Furman Westin (October 11, 1929 - February 18, 2013) was a Professor of Public Law & Government Emeritus, Columbia University, former publisher of Privacy & American Business, and former President of the Center for Social & Legal Research. Robert Coldwell Wood (September 16, 1923 - April 1, 2005) was an American political scientist, academic and government administrator, and professor of political science at MIT. From 1965 to 1969, Wood served as the Under Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development under President Lyndon B. Johnson, and for two weeks as the Secretary at the end of the Johnson Administration. After his return to MIT, he directed the Joint Center for Urban Studies at MIT and Harvard. He also had a joint appointment as chairman of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. He served as president of the University of Massachusetts (1970-1977), overseeing expansion of programs, including construction of a campus in south Boston.
