In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Fair. 'Amazing story and highly recommended for church libraries.' Church Libraries The remarkable true story of renowned Chinese Christian Brother Yun. This is the gripping story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan province and placed him on the front line for Jesus, in the face of impossible odds. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun turns his gaze to and centers his story on the character and beauty of Jesus. Interspersed with his personal account are contributions from his wife, Deling, made mostly during her husband's frequent periods of imprisonment. This dramatic autobiography of one of China's dedicated, courageous, and intensely persecuted house church leaders is a watershed book that will turn the reader to prayer and praise. It deserves comparison with past classics such as Tortured for Christ by Richard Wurmbrand, or the Life of Watchman Nee. A readable copy of the book which may include some defects such as highlighting and notes. Cover and pages may be creased and show discolouration.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. This book provides an original and challenging answer to the question: 'Who were the Classical Greeks?' Paul Cartledge - 'one of the most theoretically alert, widely read and prolific of contemporary ancient historians' (TLS) - here examines the Greeks and their achievements in terms of their own self-image, mainly as it was presented by the supposedly objective historians: Herodotus, Thucydides, and Xenophon. Many of our modern concepts as we understand them were invented by the Greeks: for example, democracy, theatre, philosophy, and history. Yet despite being our cultural ancestors in many ways, their legacy remains rooted in myth and the mental and material contexts of many of their achievements are deeply alien to our own ways of thinking and acting. The Greeks aims to explore in depth how the dominant group (adult, male, citizen) attempted, with limited success, to define themselves unambiguously in polar opposition to a whole series of 'Others' - non-Greeks, women, non-citizens, slaves and gods. This new edition contains an updated bibliography, a new chapter entitled 'Entr'acte: Others in Images and Images of Others', and a new afterword. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. This is the third of a series of up to 20 volumes focusing on the modern history of the church in China. The books will, for the most part, cover one province each, and will be organised by decades. Each history starts with the arrival of the first evangelical missionaries in a province, and continues through to the present day. The books include many vivid brief biographies of the extraordinary people who have been part of this remarkable story. Each volume includes a number of photographs, painstakingly collected by the author over a period of years. Partly because of its explosive growth in recent decades there is no accurate, readable account of what has happened to the Chinese church. Few Chinese believers know anyone who has been a Christian for more than ten years. This series is designed not only to inform the wider world of the astonishing work of the Spirit in China, but to provide Chinese believers (and members of the immense Chinese diaspora) with some sense of their own roots. Zhejiang, a prosperous province in east China, is home to the highest percentage of Christians in China. Paul Hattaway describes how God established His kingdom there, using a one-legged Scotsman to bring the gospel to the large city of Wenzhou, which today contains so many churches it has earned the nickname 'the Jerusalem of China'. During the Cultural Revolution the church in Zhejiang was called to make great sacrifices. Fifty church leaders were sent to prison, forty-nine of whom died for their faith. The Communists earmarked Zhejiang as a 'religion-free zone' in the 1950s and '60s, yet today, despite intense ongoing persecution, Jesus Christ is worshipped by more than 13 million people throughout the province. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. Written by an eminent author team whose expertise spans the full breadth of the subject, The Business Environment provides comprehensive coverage and sound academic insight into this dynamic subject. The unique 'themes and issues' approach the book has become known for provides students with a consistent and holistic framework for analysing businesses and the business environment, as well as a reliable method to organize their thinking. The core business environments and their interrelationships are explored using the established STEEPLE framework in Part One. Part Two then looks beyond these topics and invites students to analyse a range of contemporary issues such as the financial crisis and austerity, globalization, corporate power, equal opportunity, and entrepreneurship. A host of examples, 'Mini-Cases', and end-of-chapter case studies illustrate key topics in real-life, international, and wide-ranging business settings. Unilever's corporate responsibility policy, Samsung and South Korean economic development, and Starbucks on sustainability, are just some of the topical cases. 'Stop and Think' boxes and end-of-chapter review and discussion questions develop students' critical thinking skills, while further reading and useful websites provide the starting point for further research and exploration. The Business Environment is supported by a wealth of online resources, featuring: For students: Multiple-choice questions Author podcasts For registered adopters: Figures and tables from the text Lecturer's guide to each chapter PowerPoint slides Answers to review and discussion questions Test bank. In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. Leaving home and his native New Zealand aged 16, Paul Hattaway found himself in Australia, homeless, hungry, and lonely, sleeping on the roof of a public bathroom. "A waste of oxygen" was his high school principal's assessment. After a fellow factory worker helped him to find faith, he quickly became convinced that God was calling him to China and in 1988 Paul arrived in Hong Kong with nothing more than a backpack, a single contact, and $50. He began work as a Bible courier, carrying hundreds at a time across the Chinese border under the noses of the guards. Today Paul Hattaway leads Asia Harvest, the ministry he founded, which supports thousands of indigenous missionaries and has supplied over 10 million Bibles to China and millions more to Christians throughout Asia. An Asian Harvest is his astonishing story. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
