Rathbun (1942-2012) was a forensic anthropologist intimately acquainted with Iran following his stint there is the late 1960s as a Peace Corps volunteer. His other areas of expertise included human identification, African-American biohistory, health and disease, and health and diseases of ancient Iran and Iraq. After 9/11 he assisted in the work of the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Teams. Submitted as a doctoral thesis at the University of Kansas the previous year, this is his first book.
