The political events in India since 1989 have exposed the instability inherent in the parliamentary form of government when it comes to dealing with coalitions. It is well recognised fact that the effective political stability is an essential requisite for the successful functioning of a federal government based on parliamentary democracy. Unfortunately the credibility of coalition governance in contemporary India has suffered a grievous blow in the last 15 years or so with the murky politics. In the context of fluid political situation prevailed in India after 1996 Lok Sabha elections general question about the stability of coalition government is being raised. What is the rationale behind the suitability of the coalition theory for India. Are the coalition governments at the centre giving the enough leeway to effectively exercise its authority. After 60 years of functioning of the Constitution and its modification for nearly 100 plus times is India in a position to assert that the present Constitution will fulfill the democratic aspirations and expectations of the people. How can the coalition system be regenerated. It is true that our experience of nearly six decades has shown that the quality of governance in India has gone down considerably. The time has come to ponder over the aforesaid misconceptions in a serious manner in the light of our coalition experience and make such changes which may be found necessary to ensure good and stable governance at the Centre. The book also deals with the pre requisites of development agenda like good governance polity and inclusive growth and development in a realistic manner. Discussing political stability with a balanced perspective and advocating it as an essential instrument for good governance and development in contemporary India this book will be considerable interest to policy makers administrators researchers parliamentarians and political scientists. 190 pp.

Hardcover. Zustand: As New. 1st Edition. Women empowerment in local governance is increasingly being recognised as an important requisite for the fulfillment of inclusive growth and sustainable development in contemporary India. Provision of 50 per cent of reservation for women in rural and urban local bodies is a right step to empower them politically. It is true that the enhancement of reservation for women in rural and urban local bodies would ensure their increased representation and participation. Today we see that a few women elected representatives of local self government institutions, who not only are accomplishing well but also are awarded their excellence in their governance in India. However it is true that gender sensitive grassroots governance under the existing system of Panchayati Raj is possible only if women gain voice and rights. Women are capable of leading the society on the right path given a chance. Thus if women were politically empowered they would be able to participate in the planning execution and implementation of developmental schemes.

The liberalization of the 1990s and the subsequent policies and processes initiated in infrastructure spheres saw many economies of Asia setting up regulatory agencies. SAARC countries in particular have undergone significant infrastructure reforms following the worldwide trend of sector specific legislation mandating independent regulators. We now have sector regulators in electricity telecom and ports with many more in the process of development. This study of the regulatory orders and court judgements in the electricity and telecom sectors is unique in the sense that this is the first attempt in SAFIR (South Asia Forum for Infrastructure Regulation) countries to systematically compile the orders and judgements across sectors for the benefit of different actors in the regulatory process. Regulatory Law in Practice Compendium of orders in electricity and telecom sectors is thus a pioneering publication containing summary orders and judgements of electricity and telecom regulators in India. Pakistan and Sri Lanka between 1998 and 2003. By giving an overview of both the electricity and telecom sectors the compendium presents succinct summaries of the decisions of regulators and courts in SAFIR countries. Divided into two parts one dealing with electricity regulation and the other with telecom regulation the compendium systematically compiles orders regulations and judgements issued by regulators in SAFIR countries. 424 pp.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Biomaterials play a vital role in medicine today, including restoring function and facilitating diagnosis and disease prevention. Biomaterial-based products consist of either natural or synthetic materials. Biomaterials derived from natural products can consist of materials such as proteins, polysaccharides, lipids, glycoproteins, lipoproteins, cellular matrix, and its components. These products may be used as alternatives to animal-derived and synthetic chemical products to develop new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches with greater eco-friendliness and sustainability, according to new research. They are also biocompatible, biodegradable, renewable, non-toxic, and capable of remodelling.Recently, scientists have been exploring the potential use of plant-based cellular matrix-based biomaterials for the treatment of various communicable and noncommunicable diseases, a trend that has attracted the attention of global biomedical research. Globally, there has been an increase in the need for more effective treatment and diagnostics as a result of the overwhelming disease burden in society. Current Applications of Nanobiomaterials, Volume 1 and Volume 2 together, outline the most widely used biomaterials derived from non-animal natural resources, such as plants, fungi, algae, and microbes, with a focus on novel therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
