Original publisher's cream quarter vellum lettered gilt at the spine over mauve boards with gilt cover design/ illustration by Gordon Craig. Articles by theatre experts, with superb illustrations of costumes designed for the stage. The designers include Edward Gordon Craig, Laurence Bradshaw, Max Beerbohm, Lucy Norton, Albert ffrench Salkeld, Norah McGuinness, Paul Shelving, Edmund Dulac, Doris Zinkeisen,Charles Ricketts, Claud Lovat Fraser, Oliver Messell and William Nicholson. Some of these designs were previously unpublished. Cavanagh, British Theatre. A Bibliography 1901 to 1985, 525: 'Limited edition of 25 numbered copies on hand-made paper. This includes two plates in colour, not in the ordinary edition. All the designs are by English artists.' Bright clean very good indeed copy with slight foxing to some of the captioned tissue guards and rear of plates.
