I am pleased to offer: Mother Goose s Melody- A Facsimile Reproduction of the Earliest Known Edition , with an Introduction and notes by Colonel W. F. Prideaux. This very small hard cover book (4 ½ x 6 inches, 92 pages of text, 15 pages of notes and 3 pages of publishers adverts) was published by A.H. Bullen of London, dated 1904. The book is bound in olive green boards with gilt titles on the spine and protected by a mylar sheath. There are many woodcuts adorning the text, probably one for every new rhyme. The page edges are deckled and the top edge gilt. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The mylar sheath is a bit scuffed and has some very tiny splits on its bottom edge. The hard covers are clean and unblemished and the gilt titles on the spine still bright. Inside, there is a penciled notation (repeating the book title) on the first blank page which could be easily erased. There is some light foxing to the early pages but not beyond the Introduction. The interior pages are clean and bright and without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Moderate thumb marking, light foxing and noticeable tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutters causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild chipping, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft splitting and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear.
