Poi, nel 1907, l'incontro con la Principessa Luisa, nipote del Granduca Leopoldo II, segnerà l'inizio della fine. Un amore proibito, certo per l'epoca scandaloso, che troncherà la sua sfolgorante carriera. La storia è ricostruita in modo scorrevole ed avvincente, ma con rigore storico, anche grazie al ritrovamento di manoscritti perduti. Il libro è arricchito da antiche fotografie inedite.
