In den WarenkorbSignals London was a short-lived yet highly influential British venue dedicated to 1960s avant-garde artists from Europe and Latin America, founded by Paul Keeler, Guy Brett, David Medalla, and Marcello Salvadori. Through exhibitions, events, and publications, they established fruitful cross-border networks between these regions and introduced early manifestations of Fluxus, Kinetic and Op art to Britain. Having evolved from the Centre for Advanced Creative Study, Signals London was situated in London's West End between 19641966. Signals is widely regarded as one of the most important galleries for avant-garde activities in London in the 1960s. This archive, acquired over several years between 1995-present, include: (1) Two early documents from the Centre for Advanced Creative Study, including the 1964 Prospectus and the exhibition brochure for the 2nd Pilot Show of Kinetic Art; (2) Complete set of Signals Newsbulletin (1964-1966), edited by David Medalla, with issues featuring David Medalla, Constantine Takis, Lygia Clark, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Jesus-Raphael Soto, Alejandro Otero, Alexander Calder, Jose Maria Cruxent, Dom Sylvester Houedard, Yves Klein, Liliane Lijn, Mira Schendel, John Sharkey, and others; (3) Complete set of Signals exhibition brochures, published to coincide with exhibitions and events featuring artists including Takis, Marcello Salvadori, Naum Gabo, Jesús Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Lygia Clark, Sergio de Camargo, Alejandro Otero, Antonio Calderara, Pia Pizzo, Hsiao Chin and Li Yuan-Chia; (4) Nicholas Snowden Willey's 1965 book of poetry, The Green Tunnel; (5) Eleven documents, catalogues, and ephemera (published 1960-1969) by Signals-associated artists, including Lygia Clark, Carlos Cruz-Diez, David Medalla, JM Cruxent, and Alejandro Otero; (6) Original programme for David Medalla's 'The Bird Ballet'; and (7) Signals Newsbulletin box set (facsimile edition, 1995).
