Erstausgabe
Softcover. Zustand: Near Fine. First edition. Quarto. Original printed red wrappers. A few scattered spots of foxing, very fait crease at one corner of front wrap, the spine very slightly sunned, very near fine in custom cloth chemise and slipcase. Sole edition, one of about 500 copies apparently "rappezzata fra le rovine" [salvaged from the ruins], although far fewer appear to have been issued) of what Pound had originally intended to be a sumptuous production of the verses of the 13th century troubador (and soul-mate of Dante Alighieri). *Gallup* B27. By any estimate, it is a monument to Pound's skill as a scholar and translator, but more importantly it illuminates the key role the Italian Renaissance played in the formation of his aesthetic, and by extension modern poetry in general. The book was essentially self-published. Many mint copies were in his possession in original wrapped packages at the time of his death, and these were quickly sold off.
