Les sociétés secrètes chez les Bayaka est une monographie ethnographique publiée en 1930 par M. Plancquaert, missionnaire au Kwango (Congo belge). L'ouvrage étudie les sociétés initiatiques et confréries à caractère magico-religieux chez le peuple Bayaka (appelé aussi Muyaka), comprenant des rites de puberté, cérémonies de circoncision, organisations sociales et pratiques rituelles. L'ouvrage contient de nombreuses planches photographiques et une carte en fin de volume, illustrant observations et artefacts ethnographiques. La monographie résulte de travaux de terrain effectués auprès des Bayaka, peuple bantou établi autour du Kwango (actuel République démocratique du Congo). Le texte documente des sociétés secrètes, notamment les rites de l'initiation masculine tels que la mukanda, ainsi que les structures sociales, croyances magico-religieuses et symbolisme associés à ces confréries. Des descriptions détaillées des pratiques, des mythes et des rôles sociaux dans ces sociétés sont accompagnées d'une abondante iconographie, avec 50 figures photographiques et une carte de la région. M. Plancquaert (souvent indiqué S.J. pour Société de Jésus) est un missionnaire jésuite actif au Congo belge dans les années 1920-1930, engagé dans l'ethnologie de terrain. Son travail sur les sociétés secrètes chez les Bayaka reflète une combinaison de recherche anthropologique et d'intérêt pour les pratiques religieuses et initiatiques en Afrique centrale.
