In the first part of the work, Pirson critiques traditional Hebrew grammar by employing modern t…ext-syntactic theories influenced by Harald Weinrich, examining how syntactic relationships across clauses shape textual meaning. Genesis 37 is used to demonstrate a hybrid model that combines both traditional and modern approaches, emphasizing how syntactic coherence enriches understanding of the narrative. The second part centers on the Joseph narrative (Genesis 37-50) and its interpretive challenges. Pirson questions the traditional title 'Joseph story' or 'Joseph cycle', arguing that these chapters are more complex and less Joseph-centered than commonly thought. Literary and contextual analyses reveal a layered narrative in which Joseph appears to assume a semi-divine role, interpreting dreams and manipulating events in ways usually attributed to God. Despite his prominence in Genesis, Joseph's near absence from the rest of the Bibleand the transfer of his legacy to his sonssuggests a critique embedded in the text. This re-evaluation challenges Joseph's portrayal as a purely righteous figure and supports the critical designation of him as ba'al hachalomot : 'lord of the dreams'. Condition : as new copy.
