Leather. Zustand: NEAR FINE. Wide 8vo 8 x 6.5', [4], 398pp. Black leather over cards with pronounced grain, spine ruled in blind with gilt stamped Aramaic title, all edges gilt. Boards bowed as expected, an 'inherent vice' with contracting leather over such wide and thin cards. Some trivial rubbing to extremities, very clean and sharp otherwise. Presentation copy from the Committee of the British and Foreign Bible Society to Biblical scholar and translator H. W. Moule with their bookplate which is signed by H.W. with his note stating 'Ex Dono H.F.M', namely his brother, Horace Frederick Moule, the co-editor the Historical Catalogue of Printed Editions of Holy Scripture in the Library of the British and Foreign Bible Society. While the English volume of this excellent Bibliography was updated by A. S. Herbert in 1961, the three 'Polyglot and Languages Other than English' volumes have not been updated H. F. Moule completed them in 1909, and thus do not record this title, the first in a fascicule series of the BFBS's newly edited Ancient Syriac text. A lovely association copy from the great Bible bibliographer to his brother in their home city of Ningpo, China, carrying on the misison work begun by their father.
