This study is a preliminary to a history of the reign of Ashurbanipal, the last great king of the Assyrian Empire, who was an able soldier and administrator, a scholar, and a patron of art and learning. The events of the reign of Ashurbanipal are imperfectly known, and the course of his campaigns cannot be chronologically described. This work contains the text, in transliteration and translation, of Editions E, B1-5, D, and K of the historical prism inscriptions. Spine and edges of wrappers partly sunned.
