Arjen Roelofs (Hijum 1754 - 1828) was a Frisian farmer and astronomer, friend of Eise Eisinga of Franeker. He manufactured telescopes with his relatives, and would be decorated by the king for his endeavours, written by farmer and friend Worp van Peyma (1795-ca. 1880) who made use of the papers and annotations left by Roelofs for this book. These papers have since been lost. Library stamp on titlepage of Bibliotheek Arrondissement Sneek (titlepage) and Openbare Leeszaal Bibliotheek Sneek on flyleaf. With a contribution by W. Eekhoff. Famous book that gives insight in the remarcable quality of Roelofs work. Scarce.
