Wir versprechen uns davon eine nachhaltige Inspiration der weiteren Überlegungen hinsichtlich der Gestaltung dieses städtebaulich wichtigen Areals. -- Bekanntlich sind im Alten Rathaus der Stadt Langen seit etwa zwei Jahren eine stadtgeschichtliche Sammlung und eine Sammlung zeitgenössischer Glasmalerei untergebracht. -- Die Präsentation der zeitgenössischen Glasmalerei baut im wesentlichen auf das Schaffen des in Langen lebenden Künstlers Professor Johannes Schreiter auf, wird aber kontinuierlich um Werke anderer namhafter Glaskünstler ergänzt und erweitert. -- Es erscheint deshalb geboten, über eine langfristig angemessene Lösung für das "Museum für zeitgenössische Glasmalerei" nachzudenken, auch unter dem Gesichtspunkt, daß das Nebeneinander mit der stadtgeschichtlichen Sammlung auf Dauer keine sinnvolle konzeptionelle Weiterentwicklung beider Museen erlaubt. -- Diese Überlegungen könnten unseres Erachtens mit der langjährigen Diskussion um die Gestaltung des alten Rathaushofes und der Schließung der angrenzenden Baulücke verknüpft werden. -- Aus einer solchen Betrachtungsweise würden sich sicherlich auch neue Aspekte hinsichtlich der zukünftigen Nutzung der dort projektierten Bauwerke ergeben. -- Peter Cook und Johannes Schreiter, beide haben eine Professur an der Frankfurter Städel-Schule inne und sind sich freundschaftlich verbunden, haben versucht, diese offene Diskussion durch einen eigenen anzuregen und zu bereichern, indem sie im Zusammenwirken einen konkreten Bebauungsentwurf, ein Museum für zeitgenössische Glasmalerei, eigens für die Ausstellung in Langen erarbeitet haben. -- Peter Cook und Christine Hawley haben ihre Vorstellungen in mehreren Zeichnungen und in einem Modell dargelegt. -- Außerdem gibt die Ausstellung einen guten Einblick in das Schaffen dieser Architekten, zeigt exemplarische Arbeiten, architektonische Entwürfe und vermittelt anschaulich den besonderen ästhetischen Charakter ihres Werkes. -- Den Architekten Peter Cook und Christine Hawley gilt in diesem Zusammenhang unser herzlicher Dank für die Bereitschaft, sich mit uns gemeinsam auf das Experiment dieser Ausstellung einzulassen und uns die Verwirklichung dieses Vorhabens durch ihr Entgegenkommen zu ermöglichen. -- Danken möchten wir auch Professor Johannes Schreiter für seine fachkundige Beratung und seine wertvollen Anregungen bei der Erarbeitung des Entwurfs für das Langener Museum. -- Eine unverzichtbare Hilfe bei der Vorbereitung der Präsentation war uns die Mitarbeit von Frau Kristin Feireiß, der Berliner Galeristin von PeterCook.
