First edition, number 34 of 50 copies. This charming miniature was written, illustrated, printed, and bound by children under the guidance of the book artists Peter and Donna Thomas. The creation of the volume, in which the authors describe how they made the paper from pampas grass, was documented by the couple for one of their…many educational events. From the early 1970s, the Thomases partnered, binding books and teaching audiences how to make paper by hand. In 1976, they founded the Good Book Press, inspired by the private press tradition, and published under this imprint until 1988, when they began to print under their own names. Miniature octavo (75 x 57 mm), pp. 16. Photoengraved line drawings and manuscript facsimiles, all on handmade pampas grass paper. Original green quarter leatherette, spine lettered in gilt, marbled paper boards, light blue endpapers, edges uncut. A fine copy.
