Mass-market paperback. Glued binding. 480 p. From Wikipedia: "David Hagberg (* 9. October 1942 in Duluth, Minnesota) is an American novelist best known for his techno-thrillers featuring super-spy Kirk McGarvey. Hagberg has also written under the pseudonym Sean Flannery, Nick Carter, David Bannerman, David James, Robert Pell, and Eric Ramsey. Hagberg's style has been described as a cross between Tom Clancy and Ian Fleming. His thrillers generally feature a combination of technical detail, timely plots and super-spy heroics that are sometimes almost prophetic in their accuracy. In Joshua's Hammer, written in 2000, Hagberg gives a chilling account of a mega-terrorist plot by Osama bin Laden to kill thousands of Americans on their home soil, published a year before the World Trade Center Attacks. His scenario of McGarvey tracking bin Laden to his urban lair in Pakistan and shooting him in the head was described and executed in Allah s Scorpion (2007) four years before the eerily similar event echoed Hagberg's novel." Good. Ink note on first page after cover. Cover has slight wear and soiling. Slightly cocked. First mass marker paperback ed. [stated]. First ptg [stated]. Stinson, Paul (Cover art) (illustrator).…

Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very good. 256 pages. Autographed copy sticker on front of DJ. Signed by both co-authors (Ron Nessen and Johanna Neuman) on the title page. Includes 32 chapters. Ronald Harold Nessen (born May 25, 1934) is an American government official who served as the 13th White House Press Secretary for President Gerald Ford from 1974 to 1977. He replaced Jerald terHorst, who resigned in the wake of President Ford's pardon of former president Richard Nixon. Prior to joining the Ford administration, Nessen served as a Washington, D.C. correspondent for NBC News. On the day of Ford's succession to the presidency, August 9, 1974, he provided commentary. That evening he was on the NBC Nightly News; in that piece, Nessen reported on the appointment of terHorst, the man whom he himself would succeed one month later. Nessen, who also served NBC News as a war correspondent during the Vietnam War, was seriously wounded by grenade fragments while on patrol outside Pleiku in the Central Highlands in July 1966. Nessen was a member of the Peabody Awards Board of Jurors from 1996 to 2003, and served as Chair in 2003. Johanna Neuman is an American journalist, and historian. She worked for USA Today and the Los Angeles Times. She was a Nieman Fellow. She graduated from American University. She was scholar in residence at American University. Press Corpse brings back the dynamic two-some of Jerry Knight, the "Night Talker"--the brash and opinionated right-wing host of America's most popular all-night radio talk show--and Jane Day, a thoroughly liberated and just as opinionated leftist reporter for The Washington Post. When a well-known journalist is killed at an event where the president is speaking, Knight and Day can't help getting involved. It soon becomes apparent that the bad guys may have hit the wrong target. And the president might be next. Derived from a Kirkus review: Who slipped something into veteran CNN reporter Dan McLean's soup that made one of his most memorable dinners-the star- studded annual banquet of the White House Correspondents Association-his last? Before you answer, you may want to know that (1) right-wing radio ranter Jerry Knight thinks the murder is part of a botched liberal plot to assassinate another guest, inoffensive conservative President Dale Hammond; (2) Jerry's opposite number, Kennedy-loving Washington Post reporter Jane Day, is convinced McLean was killed to prevent him from going public with a scandalous story dating back to the US evacuation from Vietnam; (3) an amateur videotape captured an image of the Vietnamese poisoner, whose corpse D.C. cop A.L. Jones will soon be called upon to identify; (4) and the First Lady, a hard-charging hacker who investigates on her own, comes to suspect the President himself. A finale at the Vietnam Memorial will reveal that everybody's wrong-and the killer is a surprise. A Few clues helps to distinguish the perp from the rest of the famous cast. . An early front- runner for recognition as one of the mystery's of the year. First Edition [Stated], First Printing [Stated]. Paul Stinson (Jacket art) (illustrator).…

Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. 274, [2] pages. Footnotes. Illustrations. Bibliography, The dust jacket is price clipped and in a plastic sleeve. Crease in rear DJ flap. The Vietnam War experiences of Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock. Charles William Henderson (born August 26, 1948) is a retired Marine Corps Warrant Officer and an author. Henderson is best known for his 2 biographies, Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills and Silent Warrior about Marine Corps Sniper Carlos Hathcock. Henderson was born on August 26, 1948. From 1968 to 1970, he was a reporter and sports editor for the Artesia Daily Press. In May 1970, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantryman. He served in Vietnam and Beirut, Lebanon. He went on to serve in Public Affairs positions and as a journalist for the military. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1993. In 1999 he became a full-time writer. The explosive true story of Sergeant Carlos Hathcock, a legendary Marine sniper in the Vietnam War. There have been many Marines. There have been many marksmen. But there has only been one Sergeant Carlos Hathcock. He stalked the Viet Cong behind enemy lines--on their own ground. And each time, he emerged from the jungle having done his duty. His record is one of the finest in military history, with ninety-three confirmed kills. This is the story of a simple man who endured incredible dangers and hardships for his country and his Corps. These are the missions that have made Carlos Hathcock a legend in the brotherhood of Marines. They are exciting, powerful, chilling--and all true. Carlos Norman Hathcock II (May 20, 1942 February 22, 1999) was a United States Marine Corps (USMC) sniper with a service record of 93 confirmed kills. His record and the extraordinary details of the missions he undertook made him a legend in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was honored by having a rifle named after him: a variant of the M21 dubbed the Springfield Armory M25 White Feather, for the nickname "White Feather" given to Hathcock by the North Vietnamese People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN). Before deploying to South Vietnam, Carlos Hathcock had won shooting championships, including matches at Camp Perry near Port Clinton, Ohio, and the Wimbledon Cup. In 1966, he started his deployment in the Vietnam War as a military policeman and later became a sniper after Captain Edward James Land pushed the Marines into developing snipers in every platoon. Land later recruited Marines who had set their own records in sharpshooting; he quickly found Hathcock, who had won the Wimbledon Cup, the most prestigious prize for long-range shooting, at Camp Perry in 1965. During the Vietnam War, Hathcock had 93 confirmed kills of People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and Viet Cong personnel. In the Vietnam War, kills had to be confirmed by the sniper's spotter and a third party, who had to be an officer. Snipers often did not have a third party present, making confirmation difficult, especially if the target was behind enemy lines, as was usually the case. One of Hathcock's most famous accomplishments was shooting an enemy sniper through the enemy's own rifle scope, hitting him in the eye and killing him. Paul Stinson. (illustrator).…
