Ainsi, les commentateurs s'accordent à condamner toute tentative d'enfermer la pensée du philosophe dans des mots ou des formules qui risquent de la trahir. Et pourtant comment deviner son orientation sans se pencher soigneusement sur ces seuls témoins authentiques que sont ses écrits ? Il est impossible en tout cas de les négliger au point de départ d'une enquête qui se veut originale.
