Zustand: Gut. VI, 280 Seiten / p. sehr guter Zustand / very good condition - In the early 1990s, Stephen Nichols introduced the term "new medievalism" to describe an alternative to the traditional philological approach to the study of the romantic texts in the medieval period. While the old approach focused on formal aspects of language, this new approach was historicist and moved beyond a narrow focus on language to examine the broader social and cultural contexts in which literary works were composed and disseminated. Rethinking the New Medievalism offers both a historical account of the movement and its achievements while indicating - in Nichols's innovative spirit - still newer directions for medieval studies. -- The essays deal with questions of authorship, theology, and material philology and are written by members of a wide philological and critical circle that Nichols nourished for forty years. Daniel Heller-Roazen's essay, for example, demonstrates the conjunction of the old philology and the new. In a close examination of the history of the words used for maritime raiders from Ancient Greece to the present ( pirate, plunderer, bandit ) , Roazen draws a fine line between lawlessness and lawfulness, between judicial action and war, between war and public policy. -- CONTENTS -- Introduction. Fotografie
Collection of 14 vintage black-and-white still photographs from the US release of the 1963 UK film. A exemplary film of pre-"Swinging London," about a group of girls at an all-girls boarding school who wear a small yellow teddy bear on their lapels to show they have lost their virginity. Released in the US as "Gutter Girls" (1964) by Topaz Film Corp., the company responsible for the distribution of Terence Young's 1960 crime drama, "Too Hot to Handle" (with Jayne Mansfield). Originally released in the UK ("The Yellow Teddybears,"1963) after censorship in the country began to dissipate, the film was instantly packaged at the time as a sexy exploitation film, but it actually served as a serious message to young women about premarital sex. Set in England. 8 x 10 inches. One still with faint soil, else Near Fine.
