Soft cover. Zustand: Fine. 12mo. (19 cm.) unpaged [20p.]. Illustrated with 8 black anc white captioned photos, including one of Pastor John W. Christy, one of the Weatherwax Brothers Male Quartet, and one of the song "The Church in the Wildwood", which was composed by Dr. William S. Pitts. Stapled booklet in stiff cream-colored wrappers with brown letters on the front panel and a stylized brown image of The Little Brown Church. Decorated title page. Fine with clean and bright wrappers, square and flat corners, no rust on the staples and no internal markings. Per the initial "Greetings by Pastor Christy, "This booklet contains part of the story of the birth of n inspirational devotional song and the commitment of the life of a church." Organized in 1855 as the First Congregational Church of Bradford, Iowa, by organizing Pastor Rev. Ozlas Littlefield, "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" [LBCV] is located near the present day Nashua, IA and has become a rural shrine. Its popularity was enhanced by the creation of a song by then Pastor William S. Pitts entitled "The Church in the Wildwood." "It must be recognized, however, that it was not until the famous Weatherwax Brothers made "The Church in the Wildwood" their theme song that the Little Brown Church became internationally known. The Weatherwaz Brothers, America's most popular quartet in their day, consider their highest achievement to have been a part of the 'Story of the Little Brown Church'." [from the booklet] This is a relatively rare piece of Little Brown Church ephemera. Date determined from the date of Christy's pastorate, which began in 1978.
