Original softcover binding rebound in half brown calf leather with 5 raised bands and gilt titles to spine over marbled paper covered boards in very good+ condition with the occasional faint scratch to leather and a little rubbing to boards. Inside original cover not bound in for some reason with all pages with b/w maps, photographs and illustrations, in excellent near fine condition. A beautifully rebound copy of this important monograph, a result of Knud Paludans participation in the Danish Central Asia Expedition (1947-1949). Scarce.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. First Thus. Modern hardback binding with gilt lettered spine, original covers retained; firm and square, strong joints. Contents sound and clean, just mildly toned. Not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Note: this is a signed presentation copy, hence the retained upper wrapper shows a signed inscription from the author to the ornithologist Charles Vaurie. The upper cover also shows Vaurie's name and his personal bookplate is affixed to the front pastedown. In addition, this copy was formerly owned by the noted bird artist Martin Woodcock, and so his name is showing at the endpaper. Size: 250mm x 150mm; pp. 332, illustrated with 25 text-photos, and complete with 1 full page photo-plate and a folding map. Thus a very good copy with an interesting provenance. Scarce.
