Elle valait assez pourtant, dès le départ, pour qu'elle fût conduite à son terme. Ce ne fut pas sans mal, et sans être tenté, maintes fois, de lâcher prise en route. Elle était neuve, surtout, puisque personne encore n'avait compris qu'il était temps de s'y mettre - et qu'elle méritait qu'on y consacrât le temps qu'il fallait. Quête de la documentation écrite de toute sorte, dans les archives et les bibliothèques, ou orales auprès d'informateurs qualifiés, spécialistes ou non ; longues périodes de réflexion ; plages de répit, pour assimiler à mesure les nouvelles nourritures, ou même de repos par d'autres occupations ; rédaction lente d'un texte respectueux des réalités, où rien n'est inventé, dix ans de labeur ont passé, avant que, les premiers mois de 2002, j'atteigne le terme que je m'étais fixé, qui n'est, bien sûr, qu'un terminus a quo. Il en résulte une synthèse, la première du genre, à partir de laquelle, la voie est ouverte pour d'autres contributions, qui en amélioreront la construction et la pousseront plus loin.
