Copertina rigida. Zustand: discrete. Testo inglese.
[ENGLISH DESCRIPTION ON DEMAND] (6) 415pp. et (4) 416pp. et (4) 439pp. et (4) 503pp.

Piatti in marmorizzatura caillouté policroma. Bellissimo esemplare. Pine-Coffin, 819/14: "Standard tour. With appendices on law, medicine, etc. Lady Morgan's Italy was at once one of the most comprehensive and most controversial works on Italy published at this time.". Olschki, I, 470.

Leather. Zustand: Very Good. None (illustrator). Two scarce works of the Lady Morgan, Miss Owenson in a fine binding. Bound in half leather with gilt lettering and decoration. Two works bound as one. The Princess has been bound without a title page. The publication information has been taken from COPAC. This work is Baudry's European Library, the Collection of Ancient and Modern British Authors, Vol. 71 published in 1835, although The Missionary has a separate title page dated 1834. The Missionary "is set in India and reflects two religious conflicts: that between the Franciscans and the Dominicans, and that between Christianity and Hinduism. Surpassing both conflicts is the supremacy of love, especially as embodied in Owenson's greatest heroine, the Hindu priestess Luxima, who dies to save her Franciscan missionary lover from the inquisition of the Dominicans" -ODNB. The Princess began "as a travel book" and is "set in newly independent Belgium" -ODNB. Lady Sydney Morgan, nee Owenson, d.1859, was a novelist and socialite. Bound in half leather with gilt lettering and decoration. There is some wear to the extremities, including some rubbing and edge wear, prominent to the spine. The binding is tight and firm. Internally the pages have some very light browning, with foxing. Very Good. book.
