De Luxe catalogue raisonné of paintings owned by the New York banker and philanthropist George Ingraham Seney (1826-1893) which are offered for sale over three evenings. The majority are French artists including Corot, Courbet, Delacroix, Isabey, Meissonier, Millais and Tissot, but 28 American artist are also represented. Seney had formed collections of American, French and German 19th century works of art. In 1887 he had already given 20 paintings to The Metropolitan Museum of Art.The 3 night sale organised by the American Art Association held at the Madison Square Gardens Assembly Rooms fetched $665.550. Binding with insignificant very light traces of wear, inside fine.
