This correspondence conveys their enthusiasm about recent discoveries; it also contains clues about opportunities which passed by unrecognized." These letters span the years 1839 to 1843. Eugene Ostroff was the Curator of Photography, Division of Photographic History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
