Ab 1938 arbeitete er in den Techniken Holzschnitt, Lithografie, Radierung und Aquatinta. Ab 1940 freischaffend. Ab 1944 Studienaufenthalte in Paris, in den Niederlanden, Belgien, Südfrankreich, Italien, Spanien und Marokko. Ab 1949 Mitglied im Verein für Originalgraphik. Ab 1950 Natursteinmosaiken. 1951 Mitglied der Künstlergruppe Octogon. Recht unten signiert. Links unten am Blattrand Prägestempel des Druckers: Kupferdruck Chr. Franz Karl Opitz ( 5 November 1916 in Zurich 16 December 1998 in Obfelden ) was a Swiss painter , photographer , poet , musician and author . He completed an apprenticeship as a shoemaker in his parents' master shoemaker shop in Zurich, where he worked until 1940. In 1931 he joined the Unterstrass Orchestra Society , later he was a violinist in the Zurich Orchestra Society under the conductor Marius Meng for 30 years . Between 1932 and 1934 he received his first painting lessons from Willy Fries and from 1938 to 1940 from Otto Friedrich Emil Séquin in Zurich. From 1938 he used various graphic techniques, such as woodcut , lithography , etching , aquatint and worked as a freelance painter from 1940 . In 1944 he married Heidi Opitz-Sturny in Unterstrass Church, Zurich. Studies in Paris and study trips to the Netherlands , Belgium , southern France , Italy , Spain and Morocco followed . In 1949 he became a member of the association for original graphics , from 1950 he began making natural stone mosaics and from 1951 he was a member of the Octogon artists' group . With the birth of his daughter Elisabeth in 1953, his photographic talent unfolded. This led to the award Master of the Leica , as well as the publication of two photo volumes and several exhibitions. In 1967 he joined the Knonaueramt Rotary Club . Between 1965 and 1970 he made the transition to pure abstraction . In 1982 Franz K. Opitz published his first volume of poems, Cheerful Poems , followed in 1997 by his work Der Gartenzwerg . He died on 16 December 1998 at his home in Obfelden , shortly after his 82nd birthday . Signed by Author(s).
