One page, 12mo. Neatly mounted on piece of card. On aged and lightly spotted paper. Reads 'Dear Madam, | In compliance with your request, I have much pleasure in signing myself | Very faithfully yours | W. E. Norris'. Four-line biographical newspaper cutting in bottom right-hand corner.

A 1902 review commented that "There is no pleasanter writer than Mr. W. E. Norris, and it is perhaps from this very excess of pleasantness that we lose some consciousness of his excellent art, his clever method, and his smoothness of writing. He is an author who has invariably an interesting story to relate, which he does in a pleasantly cynical manner. . his work is essentially gentlemanly."
