Compacted iron metal preforms were made using the die under suitable load and followed by its sintering process. Further on, the sintered preforms were cut to short L/D ratio and testing of mechanical properties was done.Iron and its alloys made by P/M technique are being considered for use in self-lubricating bearings. P/M bearings are self-lubricating because their porosity is impregnated with lubricants during the manufacturing process.
