Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is in rough shape with numerous large chips and tears, creases. The underside of the jacket was neatly reinforced with masking tape along the top and bottom edges, over the decades the glue has bled through to the front of the jacket. Despite the rough DJ it did a very fine job protecting the book underneath. Beveled red cloth boards are clean and bright and the gilt text shines like new. The only issues with the exterior of the book is a few small dents in the cloth. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no handwriting, no library markings, no bookplates, no signatures present. Paper is toned due to age and there is some foxing which is mainly limited to the end pages. The second end page is the darkest out of all the toned pages.

Zustand: Fair. Acceptable condition. No Dust Jacket Reading Copy. Spine label missing. Front and rear hinge cracked. In polypropylene bag. (hunting, hunters, wales, 18th century, autobiography, sportsman, sports writers, sporting writer).

Stamping remains clear and bright. Bumped corners. Title page dated 1928. 304 pages. In good condition. Number 159 of a limited run of 175 copies. Pages are lightly foxed, but otherwise free of marks. Four color plates, including frontispiece. Nimrod was the pseudonym of Charles Apperley, a well known sportswriter. This collection contains essays on, unsurprisingly, his horses, but also hare-hunting, road accidents, coaching in France, and more.

Original red cloth, gilt titling to the front board and the spine, top edge gilt. The binding is a little marked, and there is some foxing of the preliminary pages; overall, this book is in good plus condition.

A Sporting Classic. Apperley, [pseud. Nimrod], writer on sport, wrote at first under various pseudonyms (Acastus, Eques, and A), he published his first article for the Sporting Magazine as Nimrod in January 1822 and he subsequently usually used that nom de plume. Overall, this copy is in good condition.

Limited numbered edn (231 of 250). 4to. Original bevelled-edged gilt lettered red buckram cloth, top edge gilt (spine faded - otherwise bright VG), no dustwrapper. Pp. xviii + 341, illus with tipped-in coloured and half-tone plates (some light spotting on endpapers; previous owner's bookplate on front paste-down; no inscriptions).
