Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'R. Nikolas Macioci's Dark Guitar is suffused with songs of experience. This is a poet who has been there and seen what you might have missed. The beauty of a face. An angelic collarbone. A brief passage of a song. A memory tendril. Times too when nothing seemed to have an easy explanation. Each brilliant strum comes from Macioci not as a professorial lecture, but rather from a friend you've known for years. This is poetry akin to Ted Kooser and Donald Hall in style, with the passions of Mark Doty and Frank O'Hara. These are poems of momentary occurences and remembrances of bodies, of love, and desire at full stretch.' - Wm. Anthony Connolly, author of Psalms & Stones and The Smallest Universe ?'Macioci's poems in Dark Guitar are immediately evocative of neon light drenched in cigarette smoke, the clack of balls on a pool table, and the dim tunes of a wasted jukebox. Channeling a rougher Bukowski, these poems speak to the need for connection with others, and yet, always remaining adrift. The writing in this collection reminds us of what it means 'to be of an age where even a stranger's words matter.' and in places where 'jazz riffs ease into the night like a practiced prostitute.' If poetry can dance in the atmosphere of a noir thriller, this is it.'- Blake Edward Hamilton, author of Move In Silence.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - It must be noted that the poems in the poetry collection reveal true feelings of the poet composed in the colloquial diction. We do not find in these poems any type of mannerism, artificialities of emotion and phrases. Some of these poems with fervent feelings, written with profound imaginative power, are intense lyrics of immediate personal response. …

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Macioci's poems lead us on a contemplative walk through the seasons. Closely attuned to nature, they linger on the details of tulip and milkweed, paint vivid images from childhood memories, meditate on impermanence and mortality, aware that 'there is no successful way/to study death at a distance.' Weeding the garden evokes thoughts of burial. The autumn trees 'scribble a signature of loss/teach me how death can be/the origin of perfect beauty'. Unsentimental, with the quiet beauty of acceptance, the poems accompany the reader 'on the mortal road/of a temporary season.'-Agnes Vojta, author of A Coracle for Dreams???'What strikes me the most about Stoney Seasons is the organization, how it centers around each season of the year: winter, spring, summer, and autumn, which sounds simple, but is never something I would have thought to do. It is gripping in the way the seasons themselves are as you walk through them, stare out the window at them. And that doesn't really do the book justice in the way the reading does. I wanted to go back and read the entire book again, or just the season I'm in, because I did not think I got everything there was to get even though I read each poem more than once. This is a rare reaction to a book for me, but I think it is something you keep close and open frequently for what it offers.' -Kyle Laws, The Sea Is Woman, 2020 Moonstone Press award, Uncorseted, Kung Fu Teachery Press, and Wildwood, Lummox Press R. All the poems in this collection were created from those blocks of miscellaneous jottings. I literally created each poem from a mostly nonsense chuck of notes. I call them scraps.Former Pulitzer Prize nominee Macioci returns with his own disturbing and enlightening view of the human and American conditions.…
