Fundortkarten zeigen die Verbreitung der Arten im Arbeitsgebiet. Für Arten mit nicht mehr als 10 Fundorten werden konkrete Angaben zu Ort, Funddatum und Beobachter mitgeteilt. Auf halbseitigen Fotos werden - soweit möglich - mindestens zwei Beispiele für die Minen der Raupenabgebildet. Kleinformatige Fotos eines lebenden und präparierten Falters sind in die Minenfotos integriert. This volume deals with the 107 species of Nepticulidae recorded to date and a further six species that might occur in the area of North Rhine-Westphalia and the northern part of Rhineland-Palatinate. A definitive species list is the foundation of biodiversity and conservation work. As we deal with massive climatic changes in the Anthropocene, knowing which species make up our diverse ecosystems will be critically important if we wish to protect and restore them. The Lepidoptera, moths and butterflies, are the fourth-largest insect order in terms of global diversity, with approximately 158,000 described species. Here we report the distributions of 5431 species that occur in Canada and Alaska, as well as 53 species that have been reported from the region but not yet verified. Additionally, 19 species are listed as interceptions or unsuccessful introductions, and 52 species are listed as probably occurring in the region. The list is based on records from taxonomic papers, historical regional checklists, and specimen data from collections and online databases. All valid species and their synonyms, and all Nearctic subspecies and synonyms are included, except for butterfly subspecies (and their synonyms) that have never been reported from the region. In the mid-19th century, the estates Duin en Berg and Kruidberg came into the possession of the then famous politician and multiple minister, Floris Adriaan Baron Van Hall. He merged the estates, had a new villa built by the English architect Hitchcock, and also commissioned an English landscape garden. Over the years, Van Hall and the next owner van der Hucht bought up several plots of land around the estate, expanding it further and further into the coastal area. Guillaume Louis Jacques van der Hucht was the founder of several tea plantations in West Java and the tin company Billiton Maatschappij. In the Netherlands, he devoted himself to Indian trade interests from his political office. Willem van der Hucht is immortalized in the well-known classic novel Heren van de Thee by Hella Haasse. In 1895, Jacob Theodoor Cremer and his wife Annie Hogan bought the estate from Van der Hucht's heirs for HFL 164,400.
