Charming gift note to flyleaf, jacket a little edge worn and slightly sunned. A very good copy. The first impression of this reissue, which is apparently quite scarce in jacket.

Publisher's burgundy cloth, blocked in gilt to spine and upper board, t.e.g. Illustrated with plates (all present) and one drawing in-text. Contents clean, some gentle toning, owner's stamp to flyleaf, binding tight and square with some sunning to backstrip. Very good indeed. The final book in the Bastable family adventure series. The Bastable books were a big influence on C.S. Lewis and Arthur Ransome, among others.

Publisher's pale blue paper covers titled and illustrated in dark blue, stapled twice, and priced at 6d. Presented in a black fleece-lined quarter morocco clamshell box, with raised bands, gilt titles to spine, and blue cloth over sides. Heavy wear to number 238, with old repairs to spine and binding. Much lighter wear to number 239, but with some losses to spine nonetheless. Toning and rubbing to spines of both numbers. Clean and complete internally. Good. The first serial appearance of Thurston's murder-mystery, also including 'Out of School' by Wodehouse, and several chapters from 'The Magic City' by Nesbit.

Moderate general wear, with rubbing and bumping to covers, and some chips from spines. Christmas number spine more heavily worn, with large losses to head and tail. Rare thus. Very good. All six parts of the co-written 'Sanctuary Club,' concerning a private detection consortium, and all three parts of Doyle's 'The Croxley Master,' in which a poor medical student agrees to take part in a prize fight in order to win the money he needs to complete his studies. Also containing odd chapters of Allen's 'Hilda Wade,' Jacob's 'A Master of Craft,' and Nesbit's 'The Seven Dragons,' as well as an article by the editor on the Southern Cross expedition, and two further short stories by Nesbit.

Recently re-bound in red half morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles to spine, and the original publisher's gilt-decorated red cloth over boards. Top edge gilt. Toned and a little thumbed to edges. Light occasional spotting and minor marks throughout. A clean copy in an attractive new leather binding. Three children can't bear the thought of being stuck all summer with a prim maiden aunt, and so end up instead at a half-closed-up girls school where they discover fantasy and adventure out on the estate, complete with a magic ring which grants wishes.

Ink library stamps of Trinity College, Carmarthen, with a red 'Withdrawn' stamp, to endpapers. A bookseller's label also to front pastedown. A nice crisp, clean copy in bright covers. Some toning and wear to spine; date added by hand in black ink to tail. Very good. An important volume of the Strand Magazine, containing excerpts from Captain Scott's diaries, which later appeared in full in 'Scott's Last Expedition' (1913). Also containing numerous short pieces by various authors, including a Sherlock Holmes short story, and an early contribution from Wodehouse.

A significant collection, containing all thirteen parts of Doyle's 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes' and all twelve parts of Nesbit's 'The Phoenix and the Carpet.' Also featuring a selection of short pieces by Jacobs, Mason, Meade, Pemberton, Pain, Nesbit, Maugham, Marsh, and Morrison, and a vision of the tank from Wells more than ten years before it was deployed on the battlefields of France.
