1st in imprint, trade paperback, 270pp, 64pp half tone photo ills., [xvi] notes, facsimile log books and ads., half tone photo pictorial wrappers, an account of the author's experiences in the Royal Air Force as a fighter pilot, from his training at No 8 Flying Training School at Montrose, his first posting in May 1940 to the newly formed 249 Squadron at Church Fenton in Yorkshire and then Leconfield. He had never having flown a low wing monoplane until two Masters were attached to the squadron to give the young pilots experience and he was then introduced to the Spitfire, only for the Squadron to be re-equipped with Hurricanes in mid-June. By mid-August the squadron was posted to Boscombe Down and in September to North Weald, and by the end of the year the author had learned quickly and shot down 13 enemy aircraft, slight roll to lightly creased spine, a little rubbed at exterms., ISBN:9781445605104 very good,
