About the Book:-Through this rare book the author has been trying to highlight the history of Kannada literature from the early times uptill the 19th Century as some scholars have suggested that there may have been a Buddhist period in it before the Jaina period. The same suggestion has also been made by some Telugu scholars with regard to their literature and it has been said that Buddhist works have been completely lost in Telugu, though a very few Jaina works have survived. The Tamils do not divide their literature into Buddhist, Jaina and other periods, because their literature contains works by Buddhist and Jaina authors at different times.
