Mounted to the verso of the title page is a large manuscript bookplate partly in calligraphy- "Bernhard C. Wolff's Book presented by John R. Cooke, Esq." Wolff was involved in the revolutionary war as a teen, entered business in Chambersburg late 1700's and became a leading figure of the Reformed Church from 1820's to 1850. Earlier ownership in manuscript to title page of George Cooke. Later ownership bookplate to front pastedown of Theodore Appel. Handsome bookplate and intriquing provenance. Lacking the final printed leaf. Thus fair only.
