Von Mueller is noted particularly for making the blue gum (Eucalyptus globulus) known all over the world, and introducing it in Europe, North & South Africa, & California. Five issues (decades) 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10, each decade with b&w lithograph plates. Tenth Decade includes the contents and alphabetic Indices to the ten decades at the rear. Second Decade a bit chipped at spine, missing 1 plate and text of corynocalyx; and 4 other plates. Third Decade missing 8 plates; Tenth Decade missing eugenioides and viminalis plates. 4to, original tan printed stiff paper wrappers, a little dusty, staple bound, some of the staples worn away. Royal Gardens Kew stamp at front wrappers. Scattered fox spotting, though mostly clean and bright.

He was the founder of the National Herbarium of Victoria and an avid explorer; he served as botanist on the 1855 Augustus Gregory expedition, explored North Australia, was one of the four who reached Termination Lake, and took part in Gregory's expedition overland to Moreton Bay, finding nearly 800 species new to Australia. 4to, 30pp, 20pp plates, ads [2].
